Scores from South Road – Round 4

st XI – The 1st XI hit the winners column, disposing of a talented Yarraville side. UK import Ben Johns was handed cap #972 following a string of impressive performances in the 2nds, and with this in mind we won the toss and batted. Charith Cooray and Brenton Murphy got the innings off to a terrific start, putting on 81 for the opening wicket. Marcus Glenister (37) and Ricky Damiano (30) joined in later in the innings to see us post a very competitive 9/229. Some tight middle innings bowling from Hamish Graham (1/21 off 9) and Alex Hewet up front (1/36 off 9) meant Yarraville weren’t able to chase down our total, finishing 16 runs shy.

nd XI – The 2nd XI continued their perfect start to the season, easily defeating Yarraville at BBO. Winning the toss and bowling first, excellent opening bowling from James Harrod (3/17 off 9) and Josh Gates (3/30 off 8) was then backed up by 2 wickets each from spinners Jack Moffitt and Darcy Kennelly. The visitors never really got going, dismissed in 33 overs for 102. Stuart Fairley (46) sought to make short work of the run chase, with cameos from Andrew Martin (22*) and Sean Wilson getting us over the line with 15 overs remaining.

rd XI – Long trip to Bayswater = No Problems for Swaff and his 3rd XI! Early order contributions from Tom Hamilton (23) and Jack Rutter (28) were ably assisted late in the innings by Duncan McKenzie (39), Cooper Price (35*) and Hamish Swaffield (29*) ensuring a very competitive total of 7/192. The bowling performances of Duncan (2/15 off 9) and the President himself (3/23 off 9) ensured that Bayswater were dismissed in reply for 132, an impressive win.

th XI – The 4s couldn’t quite get the job done this week as a chase of 198 at Donald McDonald Reserve proved too much for our previously firing batting line up. Tony Sheppard (41) and Cam McKenzie (28) did their best, but we fell well short posting only 116.
