Welcome to Season 2026 / 2027
Welcome to the launch of the 2026/2027 Season for Juniors at Brighton Cricket Club.
Over the winter months we have been busy planning the season. We have listened to your feedback and will be implementing some changes to ensure that our junior program remains one of the strongest in the region.
Some initiatives in the pipeline include:
- Integrated training
- Specialist coaching sessions & greater support
- Greater variety of sponsorship opportunities
- More thorough pre-season & trials program
- Social activities and club events
- Increased integration with the broader club

Competitions / Programs:
This year we will enter teams in the following programs:
- Phase 1: Cricket Blast Program – entry to cricket program that provides a fun and inclusive program designed for kids to learn through exciting activities and modified games. Sessions are around one hour in duration on a Saturday morning.
- Phase 2: Rookies Competition – a modified rules competition providing opportunities to bat, bowl and field. Dedicated teams representing BCC and competing against other local cricket clubs. Suitable for children aged under 10 years of age who already have basic skills. We have the option for Saturday or Sunday games. Please ensure you specify your preference during registration.
- Phase 3: Under Age Hard Ball Cricket – hard ball competition cricket with BCC entering multiple teams in each age group; Under 12, Under 14 & Under 16. Suitable for children who have the necessary skills and confidence to play competition cricket with a hard ball. Under 12’s play Saturday morning and Under 14 & 16’s play Friday evenings.
As with previous years we will also be entering several under age All Girls teams including:
- Under 12’s playing Wednesday evening
- Under 14’s playing Wednesday evening
- Under 18’s playing Tuesday evening
Further to this SECA will again be running an Under 18 T20 mid-week competition. Further details and registration for this competition will occur later in the year.

Key Dates
- TODAY – Junior Registrations Open
- 21st / 22nd August – Pre-season / Trials Session #1
- 28th / 29th August – Pre-season / Trials Session #2
- 31st August – Registration cutoff for shirt printing
- 4th / 5th September – Pre-season / Trials Session #3
- 11th / 12th September – Pre-season / Trials Session #4
- 19th September to 4th October – School holidays
- 9th / 10th / 11th October – Round 1 for Rookies, Underage Boys & Girls
- November – Junior Blast Program Commences (TBC)
Registration fees are generally the same as last season and include the following elements:
- Competition Fees (set by the Governing Organisation)
- Cricket Victoria & Cricket Australia Fees (set by CV & CA)
- BCC Playing Shirt
- BCC Training Shirt
- BCC Blue Playing Pants (Girls Only) if required. Please select ‘Not Required’ if you can utilise last years pants.
- $100 worth of Raffle Tickets
Important notes:
Raffle Tickets – As per previous seasons the subscription fee includes a payment of $100 which goes directly to the Club Major Raffle to be drawn during the season. Each child will be issued with a book of 10 tickets, which may be kept or on-sold to friends & family. This is the major fundraiser for the Cricket Club and we appreciate your support.
Shirt Orders – Registrations received prior to 31st August will receive a playing shirt with your Surname and Playing Number.
Shirt Size – We are using the same supplier as last season so use the shirt from last year as a sizing guide. For new members the sizes are fairly standard, if unsure, consider a larger size, as unfortunately we are unable to facilitate exchanges once the shirts are delivered.
Family Discount – There is an option for a 20% discount for multiple children registering.
Pre-season & Grading
This season we will be holding pre-season training and grading over several weekends with each age group assigned to a specific session on each of the weekends. These sessions will include net sessions, fielding and centre wicket game simulation. We understand that you may have other commitments, however, to ensure that children are placed in the most appropriate team we strongly encourage attendance at these sessions.
Details will be confirmed in the coming weeks, however, please pencil in the following dates.
- 21st / 22nd August: Net Session #1 (Brighton Beach Oval – BBO)
- 28th / 29th August: Net Session #2 (BBO)
- 4th / 5th September: Centre Wicket Session (TBC)
- 11th / 12th September: Reserved for additional session (TBC)
Season Commencement
The first round commences the weekend of 9th / 10th / 11th October.
Full fixture details are still being arranged by the applicable organisations and once confirmed we will share these details.
Brighton Junior Merchandise Store
We are currently working with our supplier with respect to merchandise and a refreshed store will be released in the coming weeks.
Sponsors
Many of you indicated last year that you are keen to sponsor BCC. Accordingly, we have refreshed our sponsorship strategy and are finalising our Sponsorship Prospectus which will be formally released in the coming weeks. There will be multiple and varied opportunities to support BCC so please jump on board to assist the club. Please reach out to myself or the committee for further details or to register your interest.
Equipment Exchange
Our children are growing quickly and it is likely that some uniforms and equipment from previous seasons will no longer fit or be appropriate.
For those looking to ‘re-home’ good quality, clean clothing and gear please bring it down to the pre-season sessions and we will find a new home or donate to charity.
