Representative Players Summary
U12 Mitchell Shield:
SECA’s Mitchell Shield side were again successful in winning the Mitchell Shield. Our two players, Hugo Hall-Kahan and Lachlan McCluskey, played key roles in the win. Hugo top scored in the GF with a match winning 27 as SECA successfully chased down ISEC’s 103 while Lachlan’s leg spin was crucial throughout the tournament.

U12 Josh Browne Plate:
SECA was also successful in winning the Josh Browne Plate with a side including three Brighton players. They were Brendan Reddell, Ben Edmondson and Lachlan Zissis all of whom contributed with both bat and ball.
Brendan Reddell – 84@14 and had an economy of 2.2rpo with the ball
Ben Edmondson – 45@9 and 3 wkts@30
Lachlan Zissis – 31@6 and an economy of 2.2rpo with the ball.
U14 State Championships
The South East Bayside Breakers u14’s went through the Championships undefeated. Tom Christie was our sole representative, fresh from some dominant performances in our 4ths. Tom opened the bowling with his off spin and kept a particularly tight rein on the opposition with an economy rate of 2.5rpo.
U14 Russell Allen
SECA entered two teams in the top grade of the VMCU u14 competition both of which included Brighton players. SECA Blue progressed to the GF before losing a closely fought game to the Western Region CA in the 38th over. This team included Angus Evans and Christian Van Der Merwe.
SECA Green contained a number of Brighton players including Hudson Milnes, Craig Marais, Jack Ellwood, Charlie Dowling, Patrick Kyritsis and Nick Kyritsis. Despite being SECA’s 2nd team, they managed to progress to the semi finals with Craig Marais (210@35) and Hudson Milnes (116@19) playing particularly important roles at the top of the order.
U14 Des Nolan Cup
Former Hatch star Shea Gribben coached the Des Nolan SECA team which featured Sam Strong as keeper. The team had a successful tournament making the SF stage before being defeated by the Eastern CA. Sam had 4 games with no byes conceded.
U16 State Championships
The u16 Breakers side contained a number of Brighton juniors as well as several more from last year’s JG Craig team. They were able to get to the semi final where they were in a strong position to progress before rain intervened and they were knocked out due to a lower qualifying position. The side included Duncan Mckenzie, Rob Strong, Oliver Hurley and Matt Harris as well as Sam Loewe and Ben Durkin from last year’s JG Craig team.
U16 Jim Beitzel
The SECA u16’s contained Liam Stocker as well as Matt Cefala and Michael Fitzgerald from last year’s JG Craig team. They dominated the early part of the tournament before a surprise loss to ISEC in the semi final.
U18 State Championships
The u18 Breakers also had a successful tournament winning the GF at the MCG on February 7th. The side included opening bowler Jackson Noske, who has moved on to St Kilda this season, and opening bat Nathan Murphy who captained our JG Craig side last season and is currently playing for Melbourne CC.
