Upcoming Club Milestones
Charith Cooray needs just 3 runs to reach 1,000 career runs for the 1st XI. He is currently sitting on 997 runs at 24.32 average from 46 games. Charith’s fantastic start to the season was rewarded with selection in the VSDCA team that played vs VCCL last weekend.
Tom Hamilton will play his 100th club game this coming weekend. Tom started in our junior program nearly 15 years ago, has progressed through the JG Craig program and has now become an invaluable member of the senior club. He was a Premiership player with the 2nd XI in 2011-12 and has been a key part of the 1st XI since that time. We wish him all the best for this tremendous achievement.
Mitch Finlayson brought up 2,000 career runs for the club back in round 4. Mitch has played senior cricket at Brighton for a decade, notching up more than 100 games over this period across the grades. A terrific clubman, our congratulations go to Mitch on accomplishing this impressive feat.
Cam McKenzie played his 100th club game in round 5, and in the following game broke Rick Harrod’s record for the most number of career wickets in the 4th XI. Cam now has 191 wickets for this eleven breaking the old record of 186. The 4th XI captain shows no signs of slowing down, having already taken 18 wickets at an average of just 6.89 so far this season.
