Facilities Upgrades at BCC

We are making significant investments to make sure that our centre wicket tables are in fantastic condition at both Brighton Beach Oval and Donald McDonald Reserve for the upcoming season. The club is spending more than $30,000 on new covers, hessian, rollers, centre wicket fencing and ongoing specialist weekly maintenance, providing both senior and junior players with the best quality pitches in the area.

In particular, there will be significant works done at Donald McDonald Reserve prior to the start of the season with a major refurbishment of the centre wicket and a rejuvenation of the outfield. A large section of the outfield will also be fenced off and rested until the end of October necessitating home fixtures to be moved to Brighton Beach Oval during that time(Oct 10, 17 & 24). We are very excited about this project, as not only will it improve the quality of that oval, but it will provide our younger players with an opportunity to play on our refurbished main ground.

On top of all that we have our Turf Net Project, due to commence construction shortly after we receive the final necessary approvals. This is a major undertaking for the club, with the project costing in excess of $100,000. We have received a significant grant from Cricket Australia but the majority of the cost is to be borne ourselves. We have received some great support for our Yard of Turf Fundraiser, with donations received so far of around 30 yards – still leaving us with work to do to complete our 132 yard target.
