The 1st XI mounted an historic chase, successfully hauling in St Bernard’s imposing target of 312 for victory on the final ball of the day.

It was a victory that will linger in the minds of the Brighton players and the club’s supporters. In years to come they might even refer to it as The Great Chase.

Family Day
We had a fantastic day of six a side cricket at the Family Fun Day on Sunday 11 December. With perfect weather, a steady supply of food on the BBQ and drinks to suit everyone. It was a great opportunity for our junior players to experience playing on turf and the games encouraged them to think tactically about shot selection, focus on running and calling well and most of all play under pressure.
Congratulations to all the players who took part and played the games in such good spirit. Teams played round robin games and the top 2 teams in each age group contested the final. Every team won at least 1 game and no team won all of their games and there were some competitive games that came down to the last few balls.
A huge thank you to the Coaches who were so generous with their time and looked after the teams on the day as well as umpiring and scoring. Chris Adams had a particularly busy day coaching an U12 team into Runners Up position in the Under 12 competition and then going one better with the senior team in the afternoon.
The Seaside Smashers , coached by Tim Gillard and captained by Thomas Barnes won the U12 competition, Brighton Stars captained by Jeremy Adams won the senior comp. Club sponsor and kit supplier Knight sports donated individual prizes which, together with Brown Cow vouchers, were awarded to the following players:

T20 Day at BCC
We are now through to the Semi-Finals of the VSDCA T20 Competition after a comprehensive victory over Caulfield last night in front of a big crowd at BBO.
Batting first, captain Ricky Damiano compiled a composed 50 and was ably supported by guest player Nathan McNally, Andrew Martin and some big later order hitting from Jack Rutter, enabling us to post a competitive target of 166 on a quick Beach Road outfield.
Caulfield started brightly in their chase, but a brilliant direct hit run-out from Jayce Morgan started a steady stream of wickets. Jack Rutter starred collecting 4 and Sam Hall-Kahan chipped in with 3 as Caulfield were all out for 127 off 18 overs.
Turf Nets Plaque
We are proud to now have the acknowledgment plaque for the Turf Nets project hanging in the BCC Social Rooms. This recognises the contribution by so many members of the BCC community that made this project a possibility.
The facility has been named after current club Vice President Ross Teschendorff. Ross has had an illustrious history at Brighton as both a player and official, with his many years of service making him extremely deserving of this honour.
