The 1st XI continued their difficult start to the season, ultimately quite comprehensively outplayed by Elsternwick. In a rain shortened opening day, we did well to restrict Elsternwick to 5/196 off 67 overs. Ultimately, the last 13 overs proved costly as the opposition reached an imposing total of 8/283 off their allotted 80 overs. Alex Hewet was undoubtedly the star with the ball, taking 5/67 from 23 overs. In reply, captain Ricky Damiano (52) and Marcus Glenister (42) were looking good, amassing a partnership of 71 for the 3rd wicket, but resistance after that proved fairly slim as we were...

A Famous Old Club – Copies still Available!

This is a progress report on sales of A Famous Old Club- A History of the Brighton Cricket Club from 1842 to 2017 by David King released to mark the Club’s 175 Anniversary. You will recall we received the book back from the printers in late January and so far over 250 copies have been sold and placed. A point that is coming through consistently is that this is an absolutely first rate book: Highly respected cricket and sports author Ken Piesse described the book as “the best cricket club history ever”.
