Brighton Hatch team defeat Noble Park in Quarter-Final

Brighton 7/200 c.c defeated Noble Park 10/99.

After losing the toss and being surprisingly sent in, the Brighton boys recovered from an early wicket to post 7/200 at the completion of the allotted 45 overs. The innings built on a fantastic 70 run partnership between Mackenzie Simpson (32) and Louis Gillies who batted superbly to make 64. Sam Harrison (24), Harper Leonard (12) and Oliver Gunning (34*) built on this start and lifted the scoring rate during the second half of the innings. 200 runs batting first in a final put the Tonners firmly on top.

Coach Nathan Steele challenged the team at the break to execute at least one run out in the Noble Park innings: the Brighton Hatch team responded with 3 in the first 13 overs. After Steve Athaide had the Noble Park ‘gun’ caught behind, consistent wickets lead to Noble Park being dismissed under 100 in the 35th over. Ben Earney and Sam Harrison each picked up 2 wickets, and Gillies, Shimmin and Hamilton took 1 each.

The Semi-Final will be played next Thursday, against Coburg at Brighton Beach Oval.
